Vital Vitamins

We could not survive without vitamins. Vitamins are indispensable tiny organic substances that we need for the functioning of our bodies, for our good health and proper development. We need only very small amounts of vitamins a day.

Vitamins can be categorized into:

  • Fat-soluble vitamins
  • Water-soluble vitamins

Vitamins A, D, E and K are fat-soluble vitamins. They can be stored in the body. Vitamin C and vitamin B group are water-soluble vitamins. Our body can not store water-soluble vitamins. So excess in any water-soluble vitamins will be excreted in the urine. Because we could not store water-soluble vitamins, we need to consume them on a regular basis.

Most people believe that the more vitamins you take, the better it is. This may sometimes be true for some people and of some of the vitamins and minerals. However, most vitamins and minerals can be toxic in excess.
