Organics: Pros and Cons


Pros

  • Organic food and vegetables generally contain less residues of potentially dangerous chemicals and antibiotics.
  • Some studies have confirmed that organics often contain higher level of nutrients.
  • Trials confirm that the longer growing/maturing periods and lower water content generally result in better tasting plant and animal produce.


Cons

  • Organics are more expensive. They are usually 50% to 70% more expensive than non-organics.
  • Different countries have different organic standards. Some standards may be too low.
  • Some organics lack of preservatives and can not keep for long period of time. So they must be consumed quickly.
